CSE’s Coast Guard certified captain, Phillip McKee, pilots the RV Congaree River for offshore data collection. RV Congaree River is a 24 foot jet boat with a custom welded aluminum hull. This type boat was originally designed to handle the hazardous white water rapids of the Snake River in Idaho; its extremely shallow draft and high performance characteristics allow CSE to collect data much closer to shore and over a much wider range of weather and current conditions than is possible with a conventional design.
